Install
/plugin install example-skills@anthropic-agent-skillswebapp-testing is a toolkit skill for interacting with and testing local web applications using Playwright. It lets Claude verify frontend functionality, debug UI behavior, capture screenshots, and view browser logs, which closes the loop between “Claude changed the code” and “the page actually works”.
What it does
- Gives Claude a decision tree for choosing the right testing approach.
- Bundles helper scripts, including one that runs your server while a test executes.
- Teaches a reconnaissance-then-action pattern: inspect the page first, then interact.
- Lists common pitfalls and best practices for stable Playwright scripts.
Install
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills
/plugin install example-skills@anthropic-agent-skills
Or copy skills/webapp-testing into ~/.claude/skills/. Python and Playwright need to be available in the environment where Claude runs the scripts. See the skills guide for skill locations.
Example usage
Start the dev server and check that the signup form shows an error for an invalid email
Take screenshots of the dashboard at mobile and desktop widths and list layout bugs
The checkout button does nothing. Capture the browser console logs and find out why
Tips
- Give Claude a clear pass/fail check so it can iterate without you.
- For live, interactive browsing, add Playwright MCP; for performance and network data, Chrome DevTools MCP.
- Pair with frontend-design when you are building UI, so design and verification happen in the same loop.

Frequently asked questions
Does webapp-testing need Playwright MCP?
No. The skill has Claude write and run Playwright scripts with bundled helpers. Playwright MCP is a separate option that gives Claude live browser tools.
Can it start my dev server?
Yes. It includes a helper script for running a server alongside the test so Claude can test a local app end to end.
Does it replace my test suite?
No. Use it to verify and debug, then ask Claude to turn important checks into committed tests.
