typescript-lsp is an Anthropic plugin that connects Claude Code to the TypeScript language server. With it, Claude gets go-to-definition, find references and error checking for TypeScript and JavaScript files instead of relying on text search alone.
Checked 24 Oct 2026 against the plugin’s README and its marketplace.json entry (version 1.0.0).
Who it is for
Anyone using Claude Code on a TypeScript or JavaScript codebase, especially large ones where text search misses renamed or re-exported symbols.
Install
First install the language server:
npm install -g typescript-language-server typescript
Then the plugin:
/plugin install typescript-lsp@claude-plugins-official
What it does
- Registers
typescript-language-server --stdioas an LSP server in Claude Code. - Maps
.ts,.mtsand.ctsto TypeScript,.tsxto TypeScript React,.js,.mjsand.cjsto JavaScript, and.jsxto JavaScript React. - Gives Claude real diagnostics and symbol navigation while it edits.
Pros
- Small plugin with no extra configuration beyond the server.
- Real type errors instead of guesses.
- Sibling plugins cover many other languages in the same marketplace.
Cons and caveats
- You must install and keep the language server on your PATH yourself.
- Covers TS and JS only; other languages need their own LSP plugin.
