awesome-claude-code-subagents from VoltAgent is a curated collection of more than 160 Claude Code subagents organized into 10 categories. Each subagent is a Markdown file with a focused role, such as a language specialist, an infrastructure engineer or a security auditor, that Claude can delegate work to in its own context window.

Who it is for

Claude Code users who want a ready-made bench of specialists and prefer to browse and pick agents rather than write them from scratch.

Install

As Claude Code plugins (recommended by the README):

claude plugin marketplace add VoltAgent/awesome-claude-code-subagents
claude plugin install voltagent-lang # Language specialists
claude plugin install voltagent-infra # Infrastructure & DevOps

Other category plugins: voltagent-core-dev, voltagent-qa-sec, voltagent-data-ai, voltagent-dev-exp, voltagent-domains, voltagent-biz, voltagent-meta and voltagent-research. The meta orchestration agents work best with other categories installed.

Prefer files? Copy agents into ~/.claude/agents/ or .claude/agents/, or run the interactive install-agents.sh script from the repo.

Use cases

  • Hand a Go performance question to a Go specialist without loading its instructions into your main thread.
  • Add a QA and security pass before a release using the quality category.
  • Install the agent-installer subagent and ask Claude to find and install agents for you.

Pros

  • Large, categorized and MIT licensed.
  • Several install paths, from plugins to single files.
  • Vendor-neutral contribution policy.

Cons and caveats

  • Generic agents still need tuning to your conventions.
  • Installing whole categories adds many agent descriptions Claude must choose between.
  • Community-written prompts vary in depth and quality.

Frequently asked questions

Where do subagent files go if I install manually?

Copy agent files to ~/.claude/agents/ for all projects or .claude/agents/ for one project, then customize them for your codebase.

What are the plugin categories?

Core development, language specialists, infrastructure, quality and security, data and AI, developer experience, specialized domains, business and product, meta orchestration, and research.

Does the collection accept vendor agents?

No. The maintainers reject PRs whose main purpose is promoting a product; agents should stay vendor-neutral.
